Why you should get the iPhone Xr instead of the X!

The iPhone X was one of the most eye-catching phones in 2017 because of its sleek design, overall performance boost, OLED display, and several other features. However, that's not what we are addressing in this blog.

Here's why you should reconsider your decision to buy the iPhone X in 2021 and instead go for the XR. from an iPhone X in 2021 user and a heavy phone user in general.

I bought the iPhone X this year looking at it as a great phone to get because I was upgrading from a 7 and 7 plus and it seemed safest in terms of size, design, and price. but after having it for a few months I can personally say that if you're yet to buy one (or considering getting an X) you're better off getting the XR. Because while it's working okay for a 2017 phone I might have to upgrade in 2 years (this is an opinion, but let's get into the facts). let’s compare the two models and see why the Xr is possibly a better choice.

Reasons to Buy iPhone XR Instead of an iPhone XS or XS Max

1. RELEASE DATE / LONG TERM USE / PERFORMANCE

When choosing a phone to buy it's important to consider how long it'll last you in relation to how much you intend on using and how far you intend to push it. the iPhone X was released in 2017 while the Xr was released in 2018. that already proves that the Xr 'might' have longer support and work better as the ios updates come in. but that alone cant make you chose the Xr over the X. however, the Xr also has more core performance and a newer chip.

the iPhone X comes with the A11.1.1 bionic chip while the XR has the A12 Bionic chip. this simply means that the XR is going to be better at performance, functionality, and overall use because it has a better/newer chip. Additionally, the XR has 4-core graphics compared to the X's 3-core graphics.

when you take into consideration the above, the newer the chip, the longer you'll be able to use the phone without performance becoming an issue. and in turn, you won't need to consider upgrading for longer than you would if you got an older model.

2. CAMERA

They both have a 7-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel rear camera. However, the iPhone x has an additional telephoto lens that magnifies the subject with this you can capture a closer, more detailed view of your subject without having to move your phone. However, the iPhone XR doesn’t. which probably most won't see as a downside and a perk because regardless, the camera quality is the same as the x just close closer shot but the Xr can capture more of the environment personally I prefer over the close shots.

3. DESIGN

The iPhone XR has a big build and equally has a bigger battery. It has a 6.1-inch screen which liquid retina technology which is different from the iPhone X which was apples first phone with an OLED display. The iPhone x stands at 5.8 inches for its screen and therefore has a slightly smaller battery. Therefore, in the end, the iPhone XR has a longer battery life even if it's only by an hour or 2.

The iPhone XR also has a wider range of colors to choose from (5 to be exact; blue, coral, white, black, and yellow) compared to the iPhone X (that only has two silver and space grey)

In conclusion, they are both amazing phones. But with it being almost the end of 2021 and the new software update that’ll be released iOS 15, you're better off getting a model that has a newer chip 9itll handle updates better), a bigger battery, and was launched more recently to make it future proof for longer. Get your very own iPhone XR on our website.
